Malakar
Lord of the Dragon Kin, corrupter of chancellors, whose banners flew over Ravenspire and whose return the Weaver saw in her web.
Archetype
The tempter and the sum of every shadow. He never forces; he offers, and lets ambition do the rest. He is the reason Albion's darkness has a face.
Patient, commanding, contemptuous of weakness, a master of leverage. He rules through others' choices and considers the outcome inevitable.
The story
Malakar is the Firstborn of Shadow, eldest of the Dragon Kin and the will behind their war. His dragons carry his purpose across Albion: Zorynthal in the Grayspire Mountains, the Harbinger in the west, the lieutenants and warlords who burned Emberholt and took Raethwyn. His sigil, a red serpent-dragon, flew above the horde at Ravenspire.
He prefers corruption to conquest. He walked into Brynmor's council chamber and bound its chancellor with a single shard and a single truth: 'You serve only yourself. Albion is merely the mask you wear.' Kael took his power. Karnyx, Vaelthrax and the Chains of Greed all carry his signature: darkness that grows from a person's own fear, hatred and greed.
The Keeper of Truths gave Eadric the deepest secret of the Dragon Kin: they are not born of the void or the gods. They are the shadows of humanity given form. Malakar has never been defeated. The Silent Weaver has seen the sky split open above Ravenspire and his shadow consume Albion's light. That thread has not yet been cut.
Appearance
A towering figure of cracked slate-grey dragon hide, scales thickening into plates at the shoulders and jaw, swept-back horns of blackened bone and burning crimson eyes with slit pupils. Dark vapor bleeds from his skin. He wears grown black scale armor and a ragged cloak that dissolves into smoke.
Signature
A fragment of obsidian etched with glowing red runes, offered to the ambitious and never refused.
