The story

Veylara is more than mortal. She speaks for the forest, and the forest speaks in whispers no human ear can parse. When Eadric's people were trapped among the trees by the Dragon Kin, she led him through paths that parted at her word and left him with a question he could not shake: are the battles you fight reflections of a greater war?

Her secret is Svartmyr. In a dimension beyond Albion, in a world 'brighter somehow, softer', they were lovers, a life by a lake. She carried that love across the boundary of realities knowing he would never remember. When he did, in fragments, she told him the truth and let him walk away, because that life cannot be reclaimed.

She has a bond with Fenwynn that needs no words; she feels his hunts through it. 'In every life,' she told the wolf when Svartmyr had gone, 'I love you still.'

Appearance

An ageless woman with wavy mahogany hair falling to her hips, leaves and moss caught in it, and startling eyes of mixed red and light brown. She wears a moss-green gown whose hem dissolves into living ferns, a bodice of carved bark, and walks barefoot on glowing roots. The white wolf Fenwynn is always at her side.
