Oswin
The master smith who forged a perfect sword for a grieving father, and talked him out of taking it.
Archetype
The maker who understands that what he makes has consequences. His masterpiece is a sword that was never picked up.
Patient, skilled, conscientious to the point of burden. He asks the hard question before handing over the blade.
The story
Oswin has spent his life turning the raw earth into tools, weapons and art, and he has come to understand the weight of it: what he makes can build or destroy, and it is never his to say which. When a farmer named Calder came with coin and a dead son and asked for a blade to avenge him, Oswin forged his best.
Then he asked Calder what the sword would leave him with when the bandits were dead. Calder left the blade on the anvil, went home, and rebuilt. Oswin still carries his burden, but he knows now that his craft can shape lives, not only steel.
Appearance
Broad-shouldered, sweat-glistened, soot-streaked, with a forge-lit face and hands that can coax beauty from any metal.
Signature
A sword worthy of legends, resting unused on his anvil.
