Archetype

Jungian archetypeThe Mentor

The gatekeeper at the forge. He does not hand over swords; he makes you forge your own and brands you for it.

PersonalityISTJ

Gruff, exacting, unsentimental, and secretly proud of every fool who walks out of his forge into the snow.

The story

The Last Hearth burns at the edge of Frosthaven, in the far north, a lone light in the snow. Aldwyn keeps it. When Galen of Southmere arrived with a rusted heirloom and a wish to become a Dragon Slayer, Aldwyn told him what dragons are (reflections of the darkness within) and put a hammer in his hands.

Galen forged his own blade through the night. Aldwyn dipped it in molten silver, burned the Sigil into the boy's arm, and sent him into the dawn with a single muttered blessing: 'May you find the strength to carry what I could not.'

Appearance

A weathered older smith with calloused hands, a soot-stained apron and a gaze as sharp as the blades he makes, working a forge that never goes out at the edge of a frozen village.

Signature

The Forge of the Sigil: a cauldron of molten silver that etches the coiled dragon into steel, and the iron brand that marks a Sigil Knight.
